There is such a strange disconnect with this homely, graphical appeal to "Jesus on the web", and the sorrounding magnificence of the cathedral, an appeal to Jesus of quite another kind. Nicely observed and documented in this photo.
Yes, it was a strange contrast. The cathedral is always so crowded with tourists, and so much has to be regulated, forbidden, offered, yet it is possible to find the reflective and devotional side just as easily. Incidentally, that day just outside the cathedral there was a celebratory mayhem, as the national soccer cup was decided (Inter won)!
