Holz vor der Hüttn translates literally as 'wood outside the cabin', but in Bavarian is also the equivalent of 'junk in the trunk', except that it indicates what spills out of the Dirndl, the traditional Bavarian dress. In the case of above photograph there was just a lot of wood outside the cabin, but seemingly artistically arranged. Of course if you told the farmer, he would probably mumble something about crazy city folk to himself.
Later in the day you go for a quick dip, in this case Hopfensee. There are countless lakes in this area in Bavaria (the biggest town is Füssen where König Ludwig II built the famous castle Neuschwanstein), and at every turn there is a postcard view. To me, Bavaria has possibly the most beautiful landscape on the planet -at least of its kind. Rolling hills, impossibly green, lush grass against an impossibly blue sky dotted with white puffy clouds.
