Mitchell and Maria outside The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA, Los Angeles. Until August 8, 2011 ART IN THE STREETS is exploring art that is not created for the museum, in a museum setting. Hip or Miss? For me, it was a mixed bag, a refreshing departure from the usual presentation of the usual icons of contemporary art, even though at times it felt a little forced. http://www.moca.org/ Banksy's work cannot be found as part of this exhibition on Street Art, but that would give it too much of a blue-chip art stamp of approval, anyway!

R2-D2 fans in Death Valley, CA. I ran into them by the 'Artist's Palette' where they were setting up their model to photograph it in the exact same spot as it appears in Star Wars. Several scenes were shot in Death Valley, and fans go on self guided tours to discover the locations used in the 1977 film, and compare them to how they appear today.

Quinceañera in San Luis Obispo, California. In Latin America, the 15th birthday (similar to the sweet 16) is an important celebration that marks a girl's transition from childhood to womanhood, and depending on the country, the dress, celebration, and religious components vary significantly.
